LCM(1) British landing craft 1:56 (28mm)

The Landing Craft, Mechanized Mark 1 or LCM1 was an early British model. It was constructed with steel and partially armored. Too small to carry the medium tanks of the World War II, the LCM(1) was nevertheless kept in extensive use for transporting other vehicles and supplies.

The LCM1, as the LCA played a major role in the amphibious landings that included Norway, Dieppe, Operation Torch, Sicily, Salerno, and Anzio, culminating in the Normandy landings (1944).
The LCM(4) was almost completely identical to the LCM(1), being the only difference the bilge pumps installed inside the pontoon to increase the stability when partially loaded.
More than five hundred of this Landing Craft were built in the UK between 1940 and 1944.
